Donations are fully tax deductible. Money raised will be used to set up a home and meet the family's basic needs for a year. Funds beyond the amount needed to cover the basics will be used to help the family meet medical and dental expenses not covered by MSP, and to help them pay back the money that the government loans them for their airfares to Canada.

There are two ways to donate:

(1) Make a cheque out to St Rose of Lima Sooke with the words Refugee Sponsorship in the memo line. Mail cheque to:

St Rose of Lima Catholic Church
2191 Townsend Rd.
Sooke BC V9Z 0H4

(2) Make a donation to the St Rose of Lima Parish via Be sure to add Refugee Sponsorship in the message box. Consider setting up an ongoing monthly donation!

CanadaHelps emails you your tax receipt immediately. Tax receipts for cheques will be mailed out in February.

Donations are held in trust in a special account at St. Rose of Lima church, and may only be used to meet the basic needs of refugees resettled to Canada. These funds are not earmarked for a specific family. However, we know the family from Sudan has a good claim, and we look forward to them being accepted to Canada.

(CanadaHelps charges a small fee. See FAQ for details.)
