We are a group of Sooke region residents who came together in response to the 2015-2016 refugee crisis in the Middle East.

Thanks to the contributions of many donors, in 2016 we sponsored an Iraqi family who were victims of ISIS. That family became self-supporting at seven months and is now thoroughly enjoying life in Canada.

On the 7th of March, 2019, we submitted an application to sponsor a Sudanese family with three young children. They fled their home country due to religious and ethnic persecution. Our sponsorship is the only chance this family has to rebuild their lives in a safe and welcoming community.

Our job as sponsors:

  • Help them through the application process to come to Canada.
  • Pay all the family's expenses for twelve months.
  • Be their friends as they learn about life in Canada.
  • Support them in their efforts to become self-sufficient as soon as possible.

For now our focus is on raising the funds we need to provide the family with a good start in Canada.

Please help us give this family a future. All monetary donations are eligible for federal and provincial tax credits.

52% of refugees are children under 18.
